Saulkrasti White Dune Conservation

During the #EUGreenWeek European countries participate in the project (find out more), also we – Latvians had something in mind. The Nature Conservation Agency (Latvian – Dabas aizsardzības pārvalde) partnering with World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF Latvia or Pasaules Dabas Fonds) did an interesting project for Saulkrasti White Dune conservation. Nature seminar

This time we held our Wild Life Fund (Pasaules Dabas Fonds – WWF/PDF) meeting in a Latvian forest house called “Ķemeri – Forest house”. To be exact, the seminar was about volunteering movement improving in Latvia, Estonia and Finland. The participants came not only from these countries but we were also joined by a Hungarian exchange student and a French student from Homo Ecos project.

Saving toads on Estonian islet

First of all, this was the first time I’d ever been to Estonia. And honestly, it was everything I could ask for. I’m a Latvian who lives literally next to Estonia. I still can remember the trip in detail, so I would like to share the story.
I’m a volunteer at World Wildlife Fund Latvia or Latvian for “Pasaules Dabas Fonds” – which is the Latvian equivalent of the name. It all started when I got an email about a chance to be a part of the trip which was to take place on Estonian islet called “Manija” and I immediately replied “I’m definitely in!”. Mostly, I’m not that spontaneous, but this and the last adventure I wrote about in “Instagram trip” prove that I can be quite spontaneous after all.

Not bad for the first time in Estonia.
